The 26th annual novena of Masses at Assumption (Grasshopper) Chapel begins May 5, with Father Tony Kroll presiding. Cinco de Mayo will be celebrated in the bilingual Mass. Rosary starts at 7 p.m. followed by Mass at 7:30. Bring a lawn chair. In case of bad weather, the Mass will take place in St. Boniface Church, Cold Spring.
The outdoor novena is prayed for nine consecutive Thursday evenings. The novena celebrants who have confirmed their participation are: May 12, Benedictine Father Michael Kwatera; May 26, Cold Spring Maennerchor will sing; June 9, Benedictine Father Matthew Luft, pastor of St. Boniface Parish in Cold Spring; and June 23, Benedictine Father Julius Beckermann, pastor of St. James Parish in Jacobs Prairie.
Priests and host churches for May 19 and 26 and for June 2, 16 and 30 have not been confirmed. Check the Calendar section in The Visitor for updated information.
