Calendar, advertising deadlines will change with new magazine

We are getting closer to the launch of our new, monthly diocesan magazine — which will be named The Central Minnesota Catholic. The name was chosen to be representative of all of the Catholics in the diocese’s 16 counties, which stretch from east to west across the middle of the state.

• New deadlines

From the editor, Joe Towalski

With just two more issues of the newspaper after this one, I want to highlight our new magazine’s deadlines, particularly for readers who are interested in submitting story ideas and calendar events or purchasing paid advertising space.

We will still accept and encourage all of these items, but our magazine deadlines are much earlier than our newspaper deadlines. Typically, we’ll need calendar items, story ideas and advertising reservations six to eight weeks before the edition date. The deadline for the January issue, for example, is already upon us, so if you have a January item for the calendar or an ad request, please contact us as soon as possible.

Deadlines for some early issues of the magazines are:

• February edition: Nov. 26
• March edition: Jan. 4
• April edition: Feb. 1

We will publish a full 2019 schedule of edition dates and deadlines in the near future.

We also will continue to publish an online events calendar on our website, which will be updated several times each week. If your item doesn’t make the print edition of the magazine, we can still post it to the online calendar.

Please send all calendar items for the magazine or website (or your questions) to our calendar editor, Carol Jessen- Klixbull, at: cmccalendar@gw.stcdio.org. Or call 320-258-7626.

• New paid ad sizes, rates

The advertising deadlines are the same as the calendar deadlines. But because the magazine is a different size and frequency, our paid advertising rates are also changing. Please contact me (jtowalski@gw.stcdio.org; 320-258-7624) for information about advertising rates and sizes as well as to reserve ad space in an upcoming issue of the magazine.

I’m also happy to answer any of your questions about the transition to the new publication. If you missed my October column explaining the change, you can read it here: stcloudvisitor.org/newspaper-to-adopt-magazine-format-starting-in-january.
