Catholic elementary schools in the diocese took on a challenge offered by the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation: Every school raising at least $25,000 in gifts over and above previous giving or from new donors, starting Jan. 1 and ending March 31, would receive another $25,000 from the foundation.

Franciscan Sister Frances Kempenich, 97, died July 22 at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls. Receiving of the body of Sister Frances will be Thursday, July 28, at 9 a.m. followed by visitation until the time of her funeral at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Convent.
