Catholic Charities’ Kathy Langer to retire

Kathy Langer, director of social concerns for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud, will retire Nov. 1, according the agency’s executive director, Deacon Steve Pareja.

Langer has promoted charity, justice and bridge-building in the Diocese of St. Cloud for a decade, Catholic Charities noted in a June 27 press release. She has received several awards, including the Mother Benedicta Riepp Award from the Sisters of theOrder of St. Benedict and the Lawrence D. Gibson Interfaith Social Justice Award from the Joint Religious Legislative Coalition.

A significant part of Langer’s role at Catholic Charities has included forming social ministry cohorts at parishes, organizing citizens to advocate at the state and local levels, communicating about the needs of disadvantaged people all around the globe, and helping communities learn about and meet unmet needs in their area.
