‘Fishers of Men’ Fish-a-thon July 8-9 supports seminarians

The “Fishers of Men” Fish-a-thon, a new family event for all ages to support seminarians in the diocese, is set to begin at noon, Friday, July 8.

The Fish-a-thon is sponsored by the Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Saint Cloud.

“Everyone in the diocese can participate because they will fish in the lake or river of their choice,” said Curt Hanson, the foundation’s executive director.

“Fees are quite nominal, making for a fun and family-oriented event.

“All the proceeds will be used to support seminarian education,” he said.

There are three divisions: Youth, for ages 12 and younger; Classic, for ages 13 and older; and Online, for all ages. To compete, participants take two digital photographs to record their catch.

Youth and Classic anglers must be present at the “virtual weigh-in” at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at The Great Blue Heron Restaurant in Cold Spring (Online anglers should email pictures by 3 p.m. July 9). Awards are based on an individual angler’s catch for the day.

All are invited to The Great Blue Heron Restaurant after 3 p.m. July 9 for the awarding of prizes.
