First Communion

Jenna Wright, a mother of five who’s rediscovered her faith, has come a long way from being an NFL cheerleader to a First Communion catechist.

Handing on our faith to the next generation can feel like an awesome responsibility. We may sometimes wonder if we “know enough” or are “good enough,” but God gives parents all the grace they need to raise their children to know and love him.

“In the homily I said something I want you to remember forever,” the pope told the children. “I spoke of the ID card of a Christian. I said our ID card is this: God is our father. Jesus is our brother. The church is our family, and we are brothers and sisters. Our law is love.”
