Wadena man wins car raffle

Gordon Moench of Wadena won a Factory Five MK4 replica of a 1965 Shelby ‘Cobra’ in the Father’s Garage car raffle Sept. 8 at St. Ann in Wadena.

Father Aaron Kuhn congratulates Gordon Moench of Wadena, the winner of the Father’s Garage car raffle.

The car was built by Father Aaron Kuhn, pastor of St. Ann, young people with their parents, and locals of the Wadena area, under the guidance of professional mechanics, in Father’s Garage.

Bishop Donald Kettler blessed the car and offered a prayer with the people gathered at the event before one of the children who helped build the car drew Moench’s name from the bin.

After the drawing, the crowd enjoyed listening to stories and reflections of parents and young people who participated in the project, according to Father Kuhn.

“The mission of Father’s Garage was to bring awareness and raise funds for vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life, particularly for those young adults who want to follow God’s call but have too much financial debt holding them back,” Father Kuhn said. “By selling 843 one hundred dollar raffle tickets, Father’s Garage was able to raise $84,300 for this cause.”

Father’s Garage is preparing to order another car and begin building it this fall. For more information about the mission and project, go to www.FathersGarage.org.
