Being men of integrity

About 430 men from around the diocese gathered for the 21st annual Catholic Men’s Conference Feb. 3 at St. John’s University in Collegeville.

The conference, “Men of Integrity: A Call to Responsibility,” was hosted by the diocesan Office of Marriage and Family.

“Mercy and justice are not at odds … If justice is the virtue of giving God and others what they rightly deserve, mercy is the virtue of giving more,” keynote speaker Damon Owens told the group during his second keynote talk of the day, titled “Embracing the Radical Demands of Love.” He spoke earlier in the day on “When a Man Loves a Woman.”

The day also featured prayer and the sacrament of reconciliation, Mass and workshops on topics ranging from how to use Scripture in prayer to the problem of pornography, the role of men in rural parishes and raising children in a world of social media.
