Benedictine Brother Isaiah Frederick to be ordained Dec. 10

Benedictine Brother Isaiah Frederick, 43, will be ordained to the priesthood Dec. 10 at St. John’s Abbey.

He was born in Puyallup, Washington, and grew up in Washington, New Mexico and Arizona. At St. John’s University, he majored in accounting and was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps; he graduated in 1995. He spent four years in the Army as a field artillery officer and 10 years as an auditor in public accounting. He was also a special agent with the FBI for one year.

In 2008 he returned to Collegeville to attend St. John’s School of Theology and Seminary. Since completing seminary studies, Brother Isaiah has been assisting as deacon at the Catholic parishes of Seven Dolors in Albany and St. Anthony in St. Anthony.

About his search for a vocation, Brother Isaiah said, “I found what I was looking for. Because for once in my life I really feel that I am flourishing as a human being. Our life of prayer and community have really given me a new sense of energy.”
