Following his final profession with the Benedictines of Mexico, he began a two-year master’s degree in monastic studies at St. John’s University School of Theology and Seminary. With continued discernment and time, he was granted permission to transfer from Mexico, and was welcomed as a member of the St. John’s monastic community. He has taught at St. John’s Preparatory School and has served as a Latino ministries leader for the last four years. Brother Efrain was ordained to the diaconate July 9, 2016, at St. John’s Abbey.
