Each year, just before Easter, at a special Mass called the chrism Mass, the bishop of the diocese blesses the oil that will be used in parishes for the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, holy orders and the anointing of the sick. Bishop Donald Kettler celebrated the chrism Mass March 17 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud.
