Just last year, the church celebrated the 50th anniversary of the renewal of the diaconate as a permanent ordained ministry of the Catholic Church. Following the Second Vatican Council, Pope Paul VI re-established the permanent diaconate in 1967.

The Visitor asked educators with more than 30 years of service in the St. Cloud Diocese and who were retiring this spring to share aspects of their vocations.

Staff, students and their families from the nine schools that are part of the St. Cloud Area Catholic Community Schools gathered at Holy Spirit Church in St. Cloud June 5 for a color run to celebrate the end of the school year.

Michael Haney’s journey to becoming Catholic hasn’t always been easy, but he feels the joy that is in this parish is unbelievable and fun to be a part of.

In a gymnasium packed with all her fellow students at All Saints Academy in St. Cloud, third-grader Raegan Lieser was presented May 29 with a framed print of the winning artwork she entered in the Knights of Columbus, “Keep Christ in Christmas” poster contest.

“Faith of Our Fathers” is the theme of this year’s vocation camps for boys. In addition to two lake-area camps, the Vocations Office of the St. Cloud Diocese has designed a bus tour for young men in grades seven through 12, to be held June 18-20 and organized to reflect the heritage of the diocese.

Cathedral High School’s head baseball coach, Bob Karn, will be inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches’ Association Hall of Fame June 26 during the association’s national convention in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
