Cathedral names new principal

Longtime educator Paula Foley has been selected as the new principal of Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, the school’s board of directors and Catholic Community Schools announced July 30.

Foley, a member of St. Anthony Parish in St. Cloud, succeeds Lynn Grewing, who served as Cathedral’s principal for 17 years. Grewing announced her resignation in May.

A search was conducted for the new principal by representatives from the boards of Cathedral High School and Catholic Community Schools, along with members from the faculty and staff. The search committee considered Foley’s work history and her experience and identified her in the top two of eight possible candidates. The board of directors gave the final approval with Foley as their first choice.

Foley served as the superintendent of schools in Warroad, Minnesota, as well as in a variety of roles with the Minnesota Department of Education. She worked for more than two decades as principal in St. Cloud public schools. She is a doctoral candidate at Concordia University in Portland, Oregon, where she serves as an adjunct professor.

She also is a graduate of the Blandin Community Leadership Program.

Her involvement in the community outside of her work has included the Chamber of Commerce, Alumni Association of St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud Math and Science Academy and the St. Cloud Area United Way.

She and her husband, Chris, live in St. Cloud and have three adult children.
