Catholic Charities USA recently sent a letter to Bishop Patrick Neary, thanking the diocese for its support for the victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The diocese sent a total of $269,236.49 donated through special collections.
Anthony Sciacca, executive vice president and chief development officer, wrote his agency’s thanks to the members of the diocese who offered relief to the individuals and families whose lives were upended.
“The storms created great havoc, as damage from its powerful winds and record storm surges drove thousands from their homes, and millions lost power,” Sciacca wrote. “Some of the devastation is still being realized as some of the more remote areas are still being assessed.”
CCUSA and its agencies across the country, he said, have a long history of rapidly mobilizing following natural disasters to help meet the immediate needs, and providing critical, long-term support to communities as they rebuild. Countless staff and volunteers of Catholic Charities sprang into action to bring comfort and hope to neighbors in need.
“The [agency’s] efforts are made possible by the critical support so many caring individuals like you have provided. Thank you for helping our agencies deliver immediate and long-term relief efforts.”
