Catholic Community Schools names new leadership team for Cathedral School

The leadership team at Cathedral in St. Cloud will have new faces next academic year.

 

Richard McMorrow

Richard McMorrow has been named principal of Cathedral School. McMorrow brings over 35 years of educational experience, including 16 years teaching at Cathedral and one year as principal of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School. Most recently, he taught and served in administrative roles at Foley High School.

During his first tenure at Cathedral, McMorrow led student mission trips to Africa for 12 years and coached girls’ soccer for 15 years. McMorrow earned a Bachelor of Science degree in social studies education from St. Cloud State University (SCSU) followed by a Master of Science degree in special education. He obtained his principal licensure from Concordia University and taught master’s educational courses at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota.
“I deeply value the mission that sets Cathedral apart. I am committed to leading with faith, clarity and purpose,” McMorrow said. “We will continue to be a safe, welcoming school rooted in Christ, where students are academically challenged, developed as responsible leaders and inspired to serve others with compassion and conviction.”

Tanya Vossberg

Joining McMorrow as assistant principal is Tanya Vossberg, who has 26 years of leadership and counseling experience in St. Cloud Area School District 742 and community. Most recently, serving as dean of students at Tech High School. She also held leadership roles at Kennedy Community School, North Junior High and Talahi Elementary School. A military veteran, Vossberg served 21 years in the Minnesota National Guard. Vossberg earned a Bachelor of Science degree in applied psychology from St. Cloud State University (SCSU) and a Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Campbell, CA. She also received a post master’s certificate in education and administrative leadership from SCSU.

“I’m truly excited and grateful for the opportunity to join Cathedral as assistant principal,” Vossberg said. “Guided by faith, compassion and collaboration, I will strive to build strong relationships with students, staff and families.”

Richard McMorrow succeeds longtime principal Kathy Crispo, who will retire this summer. Tanya Vossberg takes over from James Lalley, who is pursuing opportunities closer to his family in Minneapolis.

In a “75 graduate a CHS, from Saint Francis Xavier, family of 13 siblings, well at least 10+ of us going to CHS. I have a daughter who does nonprofit work in Africa. I’m wondering how I could text or email the new principal and see where he’s done his work in Africa as well. Thank you, John Kunesh.
