Christ Our Light Parish celebrates new social hall/worship space

Bishop Patrick Neary was on hand June 1 to bless the newly constructed social hall/worship space for Christ Our Light Parish, a building project that has been in the works for almost a decade.

The parish was formed through the merging of St. Edward in Princeton and St. Pius X in Zimmerman and in 2016 the decision was made to create a new church campus to fully join both parishes into one. The land, located at 11604 293rd Ave., Princeton (now the new City of Baldwin) was purchased in 2019. The parish broke ground on the building May 12, 2024 and the first Mass was held May 31, 2025.

“Since this whole thing started, we have said that we need to trust the Holy Spirit working through the leadership of the diocese,” said Father Kevin Anderson, pastor of Christ Our Light. “We had options and all of them were painful, but coming together has made us stronger because we bring the gifts of both parishes,” he said.

The Mass of blessing was followed by refreshments and tours of the new space. As he walked around the new offices, kitchen, chapel and conference room, 13-year-old Davin Adams said he liked the new church. Asked what he liked best about it, he said, “It’s a new beginning.”
