Christmas CD to fund roof for Haiti church

Richard Bzdok, who grew up in St. Cloud, has produced a Christmas CD, “Christmas From The Heart.” All of the proceeds will help the mountain community of Carrefour Sanon, Haiti, where every building and most animals were destroyed in Hurricane Matthew on Oct. 4. The cost is a donation of $10.

Bzdok is now the music coordinator of St. Bernard Parish in Crawfordsville, Indiana. He grew up attending St. John Cantius Parish, St. Cloud, and served as a National Evangelization Team minister, a Catholic group based in St. Paul, Minnesota.

“St. Bernard’s is a sister parish to St. Xavier’s in Carrefour Sanon,” Bzdok said. “We learned that the church, the school and the medical clinic all lost their roofs. One hundred percent of the families lost their housing, and most of their livestock and milk sources. Our first goal was to get them food. Now we are focusing on the church proper, since the people don’t have resources to build a new roof.”

The CD features many traditional Christmas favorites, with several local musicians joining Bzdok, who sings and plays guitar and trumpet on the CD.
