Diocesan V Encuentro / Diocesan Ministry Day

Diocesan V Encuentro

The Diocese of St. Cloud is hosting Diocesan V Encuentro (meaning “fifth encounter”) Sept. 24 at the River’s Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud.

The day features a keynote address by Christina Lamas, executive director of the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry. After the keynote, small group discussions will focus on the experience of encounter and accompaniment on our faith journey. After lunch, there will be more conversation to consider the needs of various parish ministries and to brainstorm ways of increasing opportunities for encounter and evangelization in the diocese.

Bishop Donald Kettler will concelebrate Mass at 3 p.m. with Bishop Andrew Cozzens of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

Registration begins at 9 a.m., followed by morning prayer. The event includes a component for children ages 12 and under. Their activities will coordinate with the topics of the adults’ conversations.

The event ends at 4 p.m. All are encouraged to participate, whether or not Latino families are a part of their parish.

The registration fee includes the keynote, discussion sessions and admission to exhibits, a continental breakfast and lunch. The fee is $25 for individuals and $60 for families. For more information or to register, visit http://dmd-vencuentro.stcdio.org.

The Encuentro process calls all Catholics to understand the needs, challenges and aspirations of the church’s growing Latino/Hispanic population. It is an opportunity to strengthen Catholics’ witness of the Gospel as missionary disciples, celebrate the church’s diversity and explore ministry as we look to the future.
