Singing Praise Wisely Workshop — Collegeville, St. John’s University

Liturgical composer and longtime church musician Steven C. Warner is coming to the campus of Saint John’s to lead a song and reflection event. The event will open on September 25, Friday evening at 4:30 p.m. beginning with evening prayer. Bishop Neary will preside, followed by a meal and a keynote address on how storytelling serves as a gateway to Gospel values. On Saturday, Sept. 26, Warner will lead a retreat-style workshop from 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. This compelling day of prayer will consist of songs and stories weaving together the legacy of Catholic saints and their writings, how to present a Gospel narrative through the power of sacred song and the rich compositional treasures of psalmody. The 2-day event will be geared for liturgical musicians, choir and ensemble members, pastoral associates and those involved in music ministry in the diocese.
