Father Leo Othmar Leisen, 88, a retired priest of the Diocese of St. Cloud, died Dec. 8 at St. Benedict Senior Community in St. Cloud.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 13 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, St. Cloud, with Bishop Donald Kettler officiating. Burial was in Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud.

Father Leisen was born Dec. 9, 1928, to Othmar and Cecelia (Moser) Leisen in St. Cloud. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School. He received his seminary training at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Worthington, Ohio; St. Lawrence Seminary in Mount Calvary, Wisconsin; and St. John’s Seminary in Collegeville.
He was ordained May 1, 1954, at St. Mary’s Cathedral by Bishop Peter Bartholome.
He served in the following assignments: assistant pastor, Assumption, Morris; administrator, Holy Family, Belle Prairie; pastor, Christ the King, Cambridge; pastor, St. Mary of the Presentation, Breckenridge; pastor, Assumption, Eden Valley; administrator, St. Peter, Eden Valley; pastor, St. Ann, Brandon; pastor, St. Agnes, Roscoe, and St. Margaret, Lake Henry; pastor, St. Michael, Spring Hill.
Father Leisen also served as a member of the Diocesan Ecumenical Commission and as procurator and advocate of the Diocesan Tribunal.
He retired from active ministry in 2007.
Father Leisen is survived by his brothers Father Richard, Sauk Rapids, and Donald (Rose), Maple Grove, and his sister Mary Leisen, St. Cloud. He was preceded in death by his parents.
