Girls summer camps hosted by the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls and the Benedictine sisters at St. Benedict’s Monastery in St. Joseph are back. After two years of canceling the events due to COVID-19, three camps will be held this summer.
The Franciscan sisters are offering a “Faith and Fun with Franciscans” Girls Camp with the theme “Dance the Circle of Sacredness,” from June 7-9 in Assisi Park, located on the grounds of St. Francis Convent, Little Falls.
Girls who have completed grades 6-8 are invited to enjoy a variety of nature and fun activities, campfires, prayer and singing. Participants will have an opportunity to visit with and learn about the Franciscan sisters and the values of St. Francis of Assisi. In addition, campers will be encouraged to discover their unique gifts and become aware of God’s presence in their lives — all while camping outdoors in the beauty of nature. (All campers must be vaccinated for COVID-19.)
For more information on the Franciscan Girls Camp, or to register by May 1, contact Franciscan Sister Ange Mayers at 520-349-0732 or amayers@fslf.org or visit www.fslf.org.
St. Benedict’s Monastery is planning two “Girls, God and Good Times (3G)” camp sessions this summer on the campuses of the monastery and the College of St. Benedict. The camp for girls completing grades 4-5 will take place June 20-22, and the session for girls completing grades 6-12 will be July 25–27.
Campers will enjoy many activities including meeting the Benedictine sisters and learning about their way of life, praying “lectio divina,” doing arts and crafts, swimming, playing outdoor nature games, visiting the monastery museum and gift shop, attending Mass, and making s’mores at a bonfire. Campers eat and stay in a residence hall at the College of St. Benedict. (COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative test is required prior to the start of camp.)
Registration is due by June 3 for the camp in June and by July 9 for the one in July. For more information on the 3G camps or to register, contact Benedictine Sister Laura Suhr, 3G camp director, at 320-363-7100 or 3gcamp@csbsju.edu or visit www.sbm.osb.org.
