What’s your favorite food?
No favorite. “But I know what I don’t like: liver and onions.”

Who is your favorite saint?
St. Patrick, my namesake.”

What’s one Scripture passage that inspires you?
1 John 3:2: “Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we shall be has not yet been revealed. We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.”

What kind of music do you like to listen to?
I mostly like classic rock and pop. I also like classical music.”

Do you have a favorite album?
Styx, “The Grand Illusion”

What book would you recommend?
Heather King’s “Anywhere Faith” — “She’s a contemporary Catholic writer. Everything she writes is excellent.”

What sports do you like?
Football, soccer, golf

Did you play a sport in high school or college?
I was in wrestling for a little while.”

What are your hobbies?
Golf. Reading. “One hobby I had was beekeeping, but I haven’t done that since I was in college.”

What’s your go-to fast food chain?
McDonald’s

What’s your favorite family recipe?
My mother’s carrot cake and her potato salad.

What was your first job?
Paper route. “I had the largest route in La Porte, Indiana — 192 customers.”

How many countries have you been to?
About 14 or 15

Is there a place you would like to travel to that you haven’t visited yet?
Bangladesh. “That’s one of our first primary missions as Holy Cross. It’s still going strong. … And I’d like to get to Spain. I love Spanish history and I speak Spanish. Two of my favorite saints are from there: St. John of the Cross and St. Teresa of Avila.

What prayer first comes to mind when you need strength?
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” Or “Come, Holy Spirit.”

What movie has made an impact on you?
Ordinary People” — “It’s from the ‘80s. Even though it’s not specifically based on religion, it’s a story of forgiveness, of spiritual liberation, emotional healing, the power of friendship.”

Favorite season of the year?
Fall

What languages other than English do you speak?
Spanish and a few expressions in Swahili

Coffee or tea? How do you like it?
Coffee, with a little cream and some artificial sweetener
