TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY.

We are from Mexico. My wife and I are from the city of Puebla. We have been happily married for 31 years and God has blessed us with three princesses who are the love of our lives. We also have two beautiful grandchildren who give us a lot of love and bring joy to our home. We enjoy special moments together at birthdays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas, the New Year and many more days. God is always with us. We never feel alone, and feel his presence especially in difficult moments.

WHAT YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR PARISH COMMUNITY?

What I like the most is that from the first day we attended Mass we were welcomed and offered friendship. I thank God for their support and for our priest who is active in our Latino community. He motivates and encourages us a lot and instructs us in the faith.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PRAYER?

The two prayers I always keep in mind and that every Catholic knows are the Creed and the Our Father. Each time I attend holy Mass, the Creed helps me increase my faith and believe more in God. The Our Father teaches me to forgive—up to 70 times seven, do the will of God and trust in his divine mercy, no matter what we are going through. I also pray the holy rosary, a powerful prayer which helps me a lot. It doesn’t matter if the situation is big or the problem is complicated, our Blessed Mother is always praying for us, her children.

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE SAINT AND WHY?

The Virgin Mary, the Holy Mother of God, and St. Joseph, her husband, are my favorite saints because I have learned how to overcome the trials and obstacles that arise in daily life and how we should be humble and obedient to God’s call. With obedience and humility and despite the many persecutions they faced, these saints brought our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into the world. They also teach us that our families are sacred and to reach holiness. I venerate all the saints, most of whom testified for Christ our Lord and gave their lives to defend the faith. They deserve great respect for reaching holiness.

NAME ONE WAY YOU LIVE YOUR FAITH IN YOUR DAILY LIFE.

My most powerful weapon is prayer — in my work, in my home and everywhere. I praise and thank God each day for keeping my family safe and sound, for my work, for the roof over our heads, for the food that he gives us and for life. On Oct. 25, my wife, one of our daughters and I were in bad accident and my truck was totalled. Thanks to God and our Blessed Mother, we came out unharmed — but a little sore and scared. Recently my wife, one of my daughters and I tested positive for COVID-19. Through the accident and this illness, we feel God’s presence. His spirit fills us with strength and peace.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO GIVE A VOICE AND SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES OF FAITH WITH OTHERS?

God has worked wonders in my life and I have faith that he will never leave me alone, especially in these difficult moments. I abandon myself to his divine providence. He knows his plan for me and makes everything perfect in due time.
