Holy Family School celebrates completion of building renovation and expansion

476 days after the official groundbreaking, Holy Family School in Albany celebrated the completion of its renovated and expanded building. Bishop Patrick Neary, along with Benedictine Fathers Nick Kleespie and Edward Vebelun, gathered with students, staff and guests for a special blessing and ribbon cutting ceremony Sept. 9.

“What we celebrate today is, that by the grace of God, faith-based Catholic education will continue at Holy Family School for generations to come. It is indeed something to celebrate,” said Father Vebelun, former pastor of Parish of the Transfiguration in Albany. “The building may be made of bricks, wood, glass and concrete, but a school is built on faith, relationships and shared commitments to its children.”

The $8.6 million renovation and expansion, included everything from tuck pointing, upgrading the HVAC and plumbing systems and installing energy-efficient windows, to upgrading the kitchen and an addition with more classrooms and restrooms.

“I am really grateful to see the generosity of so many people, the body of Christ, coming together with all of their gifts to make this happen,” Bishop Neary said.
