Latino ministry group draws large crowd for concert, adoration in Cold Spring

Casa San Benito Latino Ministry of Rockville hosted a night of concert, praise and worship and adoration at St. Boniface Parish in Cold Spring on Oct. 26. It featured special guest Ivan Molina and the Abba Padre Band, a Catholic missionary ministry group dedicated to evangelization. Casa San Benito is a ministry of Saint John’s Abbey and the Centered on Christ ACC, which also includes the parishes of Jacobs Prairie and Richmond.

Father Kevin Soenneker opened with a blessing and prayer, which was followed by praying the rosary with Lorena Uribe, and then worship songs and meditation. The concert ended with eucharistic adoration, led by Deacon Jesus Hernandez from Melrose and deacon candidate Ruben Uribe. Mexican beverages and snacks were available for purchase throughout the evening.

Sandy Garcia, ministry coordinator of Casa San Benito, helped coordinate the event in partnership with Mayuli Bales, diocesan director of Multicultural Ministries.

“It was truly amazing to see all the families who came together for praise and worship,” Garcia said. “Folks need to see and hear that our Church is alive!”

More than 300 people attended the concert from around the Diocese of St. Cloud and from Minnesota communities as far as Crookston, Montevideo, Morris, Moorhead, Willmar and Minneapolis.

“Thank you to the volunteers who made it happen, those who donated, those who prayed for our event and those who support Latino ministry,” Garcia said. “I pray that our community, our diocese and our Church continue to be missionary disciples on fire for Christ.”
