Local religious communities to host Holy Week, Easter services and retreats

Collegeville Join St. John’s monastic community morning prayer at 7 a.m., midday prayer at noon, Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 8 p.m., followed by adoration until 10 p.m., in the Abbey Church.

Little Falls Join the Franciscan Sisters for the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 p.m. followed by adoration until 9 p.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, St. Francis Convent.

Onamia Join the Crosier Fathers and Brothers in morning prayer with the Lamentations of the Prophet Jeremiah at 8 a.m. and in celebration of the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:30 p.m. with the Holy Cross Parish at Holy Cross Priory Church.

St. Joseph Spirituality Center at St. Benedict’s Monastery hosts The Sacred Triduum Retreat starting today at 3 p.m. and continuing through 1 p.m. Easter Sunday, April 9. Facilitated by the Spirituality Center staff, participants will “walk with Jesus from the table of the Last Supper to the foot of the cross and to the empty tomb,” joining the monastic community in silence, liturgies and meals as they observe these sacred days. St. Joseph Join the Benedictine Sisters in celebration of the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, St. Benedict’s Monastery. Those who attend are welcome to participate in “Mandatum” (washing of feet). Non-perishable food donations are welcome for those in need in this area.

Good Friday, April 7

Collegeville Join St. John’s monastic community morning prayer at 7 a.m., midday prayer at noon, Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion at 3 p.m. and evening prayer at 7 p.m. in the Abbey Church.

Little Falls Join the Franciscan Sisters in a Good Friday Silent Walk for Peace beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending about 11 a.m. Participants will gather outside the west entrance at St. Francis Convent and will take turns carrying the cross, which will lead the silent procession throughout Little Falls, stopping to pray at designated places. St. Cloud Outdoor Way of the Cross at 3 p.m. at Lake George. Participants will gather on the steps of St. Mary’s Cathedral following the Good Friday Service. After prayer, the group, sponsored by Communion and Liberation, will proceed to Lake George. Those in the procession will reflect on the Passion of Jesus through Scripture, hymns and reflections. Little Falls Join the Franciscan Sisters in celebration of the Easter Vigil at 8 p.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, St. Francis Convent. Service includes blessing of the fire, paschal candles and Scripture readings. (No communion at this service.)

St. Joseph Join the Benedictine Sisters in celebrating the Easter Vigil and Easter Eucharist with a special tradition. The lighting of a fire and blessing of the Easter candle, along with the extended Liturgy of the Word, will begin at 8:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, St. Benedict’s Monastery. Night watches, brief periods of prayer and silence around the Easter candle are held throughout the night.

Easter Sunday, April 9
