Long Prairie parish celebrates Our Lady of Guadalupe

St. Mary of Mount Carmel Parish in Long Prairie celebrated on the eve of the feast Our Lady of Guadalupe Dec. 11 with a special Mass and telling of the story of the Virgin Mary’s appearance before Saint Juan Diego in a vision in Mexico in 1531.
Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patron saint of Mexico, the United States and all of the Americas. She is the protector of unborn children and continues to inspire poor and oppressed people worldwide.
The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe appears on the cloak of Juan Diego during the reenactment of the story.
