Museum seeks help in locating baby Jesus stolen from Nativity scene in St. Cloud

“Baby Jesus is missing — we need your help.”

The Stearns History Museum posted this plea for assistance on its Facebook page the morning of Dec. 14. According to the post, the statue of baby Jesus from the Nativity scene on display in front of U.S. Bank in downtown St. Cloud was stolen.

The statue is believed to have been taken sometime between 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, and 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13. The museum learned of the theft on Thursday.

The Nativity set dates back to 1944 and was donated to the museum in 1978, according to the post. It has been displayed every year since 1988, first by the City of St. Cloud, then Zapp Bank and now U.S. Bank.

The museum is asking for the statue to be returned undamaged, with no questions asked, the post said.

Anyone with information should contact the museum at 320-253-8424, U.S. Bank or the St. Cloud Police Department.
