National Catholic Committee on Scouting has announced that it will be known publicly as Catholic Scouting America, marking a new chapter in the organization’s more than 100-year commitment to forming young people in faith, service and leadership. The change was first announced to Catholic Scouting leaders at the Catholic Scouting Summit in Wichita, Kansas, signaling a new era of growth and accessibility for faith-based Scouting in the United States.
While the organization will legally remain the National Catholic Committee on Scouting, the transition to the public name of Catholic Scouting America is designed to make the organization’s mission immediately clear to the Catholic families, parishes and dioceses it serves.
“This rebranding is about more than a name, it is about making our mission visible and accessible to every Catholic family in America,” said William Guglielmi, National Chair of Catholic Scouting America. “We are a family-friendly national movement grounded in faith, service and leadership. Our mission remains the same: to lead Scouts to the Altar of God, as we have for over 100 years.”
The transition to Catholic Scouting America reflects the organization’s broader commitment to growth and accessibility. The new name resonates with bishops, dioceses and parishes by explicitly communicating the organization’s purpose and Catholic character. It is designed to be memorable and mission-driven, and to ensure stronger digital visibility through the organization’s new primary web presence at CatholicScoutingAmerica.org.
“Scouting has always been a powerful expression of Catholic values in action, and this new identity will help us reach more families than ever before,” said Father Mark Carr, S.J., National Chaplain for Catholic Scouting America. “Catholic Scouting America communicates who we are and what we stand for in a single breath – faith, service and a commitment to forming the next generation of Catholic leaders.”
Catholic Scouting America serves youth across the country by integrating the proven character-development and leadership programs of Scouting America with the moral and spiritual framework of the Catholic faith. Catholic Scouting resources include more than 60 Religious Activities and five in-depth Religious Emblem programs that recognize growth in faith and service.
