A nine-day novena of rosaries, songs and prayers begins Monday, Aug. 7, at the Assumption (Grasshopper) Chapel in Cold Spring. The rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. each evening — rain or shine — through Monday, Aug. 14.
On the Feast of the Assumption, Tuesday, Aug. 15, the rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Mass following at 7 p.m. Benedictine Father Mathew Luft, pastor of Rich Spring Prairie Catholic Community, will preside. Please bring a chair for this outdoor Mass. In case of inclement weather on Aug. 15, the Mass will be celebrated at St. Boniface Church on Main Street in Cold Spring.
The chapel is located on the east end of Cold Spring. At the stoplight on Highway 23, turn onto 3rd Avenue SE; at the corner turn onto Chapel Street and immediately turn right onto Pilgrimage Road to the chapel.
