Obituary: Deacon Guy Beck

Deacon Guy Beck, 74, died April 2 at St. Benedict Senior Community in St. Cloud. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 26,  at St. John’s Abbey Church in Collegeville. Bishop Donald Kettler will officiate and entombment will be in the St. John’s Abbey Columbarium. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the Abbey in Collegeville.

Deacon Beck was born Nov. 29, 1947, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to Benedict and Eileen (Block) Beck. He married Ruth Ferries June 15, 1974, at St. Gabriel Church in Neenah, Wisconsin. He was ordained to the diaconate for the Diocese of La Crosse, Wisconsin, on June 19, 1983, and incardinated into the Diocese of St. Cloud in 2007. Deacon Beck was a pastoral associate and deacon at St. Michael Church in Buckman and St. Joseph Church in Pierz, retiring July 1, 2013. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Sauk Rapids and the Knights of Columbus.

Deacon Beck is survived by his daughter and son, Patricia (George) Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Matthew (Olivia) Beck of St. Joseph; brother, Kim (Pam) Beck of Thiensville, Wisconsin; and grandchildren, Virginia and Violet. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruth and brother Jay.

My wife, Patricia, are saddened to learn of the death. We plan to attend his funeral @ the Abbey Church on Tuesday April 26th.
May he rest in peace!!
