Franciscan Sister Kay Watts, 91, died June 2 at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Convent Saturday, June 7, at 2 p.m. Friends may call at St. Francis Convent on Friday, June 6, from 4 to 7:30 p.m., with a Franciscan prayer service at 6:30 p.m. and from noon until the time of the funeral on Saturday at 2 p.m. Mass will be livestreamed on YouTube: youtube.com/@FSLFvideos.
She was born May 2, 1934, in Hopkins, Minnesota, the middle child of five born to the late Earl and Emily (Peaslee) Watts. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls on July 31, 1956. She made her first profession of vows Aug. 12, 1958, and final vows on August 12, 1961. She was a Franciscan Sister for 68 years.
Sister Kay studied dietetics at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, and St. Cloud Vocational School in St. Cloud. She ministered as a cook, baker, food service supervisor and kitchen and dietary manager, serving in Alexandria, St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids, Wayzata, Prior Lake and Little Falls. She also volunteered at Catholic Charities in St. Cloud for eight years.
Her brothers Edward, Earl, Robert and Lawrence preceded her in death. Survivors include nieces, nephews and her Franciscan Community.
