In a world increasingly marked by noise, stress, burnout, and distraction, Pacem in Terris Hermitage Retreat Center in Isanti is inviting the public to help share something rare and deeply needed: peace.
To coincide with Pacem’s 38th anniversary, Pacem’s Board of Directors is officially launching its Share Pacem, Share Peace Capital Campaign on May 1, 2026. The effort is a three-year $5 million effort to expand its ministry of silence, solitude, and spiritual renewal for generations to come.
Pacem has welcomed more than 30,000 guests into individual hermitages nestled among woods, trails, and prayerful stillness. Today, the retreat center serves approximately 1,200 guests annually, but leaders say the need is growing rapidly.
“In a world that grows louder, more frantic, and more fractured by the day, the call to stillness becomes not only countercultural — but essential,” said Tim Drake, Executive Director of Pacem in Terris. “This campaign is about making that sacred silence available to more people who are weary, grieving, discerning, or simply longing to be alone with God.”
The campaign focuses on four major priorities:
• Doubling the number of guests served each year through expanded outreach, increased accessibility, and operational support.
• Restoring Pacem’s storm-damaged woods, including tree removal, replanting, and sound mitigation.
• Renewing aging hermitages and campus infrastructure to preserve a dignified, contemplative retreat experience.
• Strengthening Pacem’s endowment to ensure long-term sustainability and mission impact.
Campaign leaders also announced a major early milestone: nearly $1 million has already been raised toward the goal through early gifts and commitments.

Supporters say Pacem’s impact is deeply personal and often life-changing.
“There is no place like Pacem,” one retreatant shared. “It provides much-needed space to reset and refresh. It is a haven from daily life.”
