On August 12, Catholic school principals gathered in person at Bad Habit Brewery for the first time in several years, creating a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, mingle, catch up, network, and simply have some fun together. Of the 24 principals of diocesan schools, 19 were able to attend, making for a great afternoon of conversation and camaraderie.
Heather Pfannenstein, principal of St. Boniface School in Cold Spring and Sts. Peter and Paul School in Richmond, said she can’t remember the last time the group got together in person.
“We see each other at trainings and diocesan things, but just to be together in person as principals — it’s been a long time,” she said. “It’s nice to get to know each other better than just through email or a virtual face. In person it’s easier to share our journeys and experiences and share advice.”
Several members of the diocesan staff were on hand to introduce themselves and connect with school leaders, along with representatives from the Catholic Foundation and MinnDependent. The Catholic Foundation sponsored lunch for the group.
“It was a meaningful way to begin the 2026–27 school year,” said Sara Michaelson, superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Saint Cloud. ‘We came together as a community, strengthening relationships, and reminding ourselves that we are better when we support one another.”
