Second collection will benefit anti-poverty programs

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is the national anti-poverty program of the U.S. Catholic Church. CCHD, a part of the Office of Justice, Peace and Human Development of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, works to break the cycle of poverty by helping low-income people participate in decisions that affect their lives, families and communities.

On Sept. 14 and 15, a second collection will be taken in parishes of the St. Cloud Diocese to benefit CCHD. Twenty-five percent of funds collected will remain in the diocese to fund anti-poverty projects through small local grants. The remaining 75% will be sent to the national office to fund large-scale grants across the nation.

Recent local and national grant recipients within the diocese include the Greater Minnesota Worker Center, Catholic Charities, Oasis of Central Minnesota, Wellness in the Woods and Promise Neighborhood of Central Minnesota.
