‘Share the Spirit’ this holiday season

For many households across central Minnesota, the holidays can be a challenging time of year.

Share the Spirit, a program of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud, matches individuals and families referred to Catholic Charities by area social workers, medical providers and education professionals with individuals, groups and organizations that wish to provide gifts for the holiday season.

“By partnering with local professionals, we’re able to identify and lift up local families in need during the holiday season,” said Melissa Blair, Share the Spirit program coordinator. “When you sponsor a family, you receive a list of the family’s wants and needs for each household member. Families of all sizes are available for Share the Spirit sponsorship, and we ask that donors spend about $70 per family member on gifts.”

To sponsor a Share the Spirit family, visit www.ccstcloud.org/share-the-spirit and complete and submit the Sponsor a Family online donor form.

Gift-wrapped items are to be delivered to the Minnesota National Guard Armory (1710 Veteran’s Drive) in St. Cloud on Thursday, Dec. 15. Sponsored families or their area social workers pick up gifts the following day on Friday, Dec. 16.

For those who are not able to sponsor a household, online donations are also accepted through the website or by mail. Mail donations to Catholic Charities, 911 18th St. N., St. Cloud, MN 56303. To designate your mailed gift for Share the Spirit (or another specific purpose) print the information on your check or include a note.
