St. Augusta resident selected as president of national insurance association

Gregory Gall, a parishioner of St. Mary Help of Christians Church in St. Augusta, was selected Sept. 17 as president of the National Association of Fraternal Insurance Counselors. A second-generation employee of Catholic United Financial with 20 years of experience, Gall currently serves as regional manager of central Minnesota.

“I’ve sat on the NAFIC Board since 2015, which prepared me for this leadership,” Gall said. “I look forward to working with all fraternals, because agents — new and experienced — come together to support each other for the success of our mission and that of each brother and sister in this industry.”

As president, Gall will lead the NAFIC board to promote the work, benevolence and education of fraternal insurance counselors, a special licensure achieved by agents and brokers aligned with the fraternal benefit societies and associations in the United States. Gall most recently served as vice president in addition to multiple positions on the board of directors of the Minnesota chapter of NAFIC.

Gall said that fraternal insurance and fraternal benefits societies are not-for-profit organizations that distribute all profits, after overhead expenses are paid, to support the mission a particular society supports. He named the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Foresters and Woodmen of the World as other fraternal benefits societies which reinvest profits in local Catholic communities through scholarships, service projects, grants and other unique programs.

“Catholic United Financial supports Catholic education at the parish, school and diocesan level,” Gall said. “College-bound youth whose families have purchased fraternal insurances receive a one-time scholarship from CUF. In addition, because we are member-owned, we match funds from local community fundraisers to support individuals who are in distress due to various tragedies.”

Founded in 1878 in St. Paul, Catholic United Financial is one of the oldest fraternal life insurance associations in the nation, and the oldest domiciled in Minnesota. Its annual Catholic Schools Raffle program has raised more than $10 million for Catholic schools since 2009.
