St. Francis Music Center organizes community concert, offers ukulele classes

St. Francis Music Center in Little Falls is offering the public two new opportunities to bring music into their lives.

The St. Francis Community Chorale will begin rehearsals on Thursday, Feb. 2, for a spring concert. Under the direction of Barb Stumpf, the choir welcomes all teens and adults who love to sing. Pre-registration is not required, there are no auditions, and there is no charge to participate. Rehearsals will be every Thursday at 7 p.m. in St. Francis Hall on the campus of the Franciscan sisters, 116 8th Ave. S.E., Little Falls. Choir members should use the south chapel entrance — Door E.

The concert will be presented April 30 at 2 p.m. in Sacred Heart Chapel, St. Francis Convent, Little Falls. This activity is made possible through a grant from the Five Wings Arts Council.

Additionally, St. Francis Music Center has received a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board to offer free weekly, group ukulele classes to adults ages 55-plus starting on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 4:15 to 5 p.m. Each participant will be given a ukulele to use while participating in the class taught by Music Center faculty member Kevin Stueven. Class size is limited and registration is required. For more information or to register, call the Music Center at 320-632-0637.

Individuals who have taken a previous class and want to brush up on their skills are welcome to join. The Music Center also has advanced ukulele classes and a ukulele orchestra for ages 55 and over.
