St. Francis Xavier School students contribute to ‘Pack the Porches’ event

Fourth-grade students at St. Francis Xavier School in Sartell collected 341 boxes of cereal for Catholic Charities’ “Pack the Porches” event that ran from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 18. They collected the boxes of cereal before the event and used them for a learning activity on March 17, before delivering them to Catholic Charities. See the video below to watch what they did.

The 12th annual Pack the Porches food and fund drive, benefiting Catholic Charities Emergency Services Food Shelf, collected 5,136 pounds of food and $24,759.47 in donated funds during the six-hour event. Pack the Porches coincides with the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign, and by donating to the Catholic Charities Food Shelf during the campaign, donations stay local but count toward an effort to help stock the shelves of every food shelf in the state.
