The new biblical epic “Resurrection” is the kind of movie where “families can get together” to watch it, said one of its producers, Roma Downey, known for her on-camera role in the television series “Touched by an Angel.”
“How often, when we hear this story about Thomas, do we admonish him — and maybe ourselves, too — for doubting, for wanting proof?” Bishop Kettler asks in his latest Friday VIDEO message reflecting on Sunday’s Gospel reading. “We see this as a negative thing. But perhaps God is asking us today to see doubt in a new way. What if we look at Thomas’ questions as ‘hungers’ rather than doubts?”
While churches in the Diocese of St. Cloud remain closed to public celebration of the Mass until May 15, Bishop Donald Kettler invited area Catholics to join him for his private celebration of Palm Sunday and the Easter Triduum via livestream.
The proclamation of hope, new life and victory over death, he said, should be “a different ‘contagion,’ a message transmitted from heart to heart, for every human heart awaits this good news,” Pope Francis said.
“We are a Church that values every human life. We are a Church in solidarity with others at this time. … We are a Church that understands sacrifice.
This couldn’t be clearer on a day like today, when we remember Jesus’ loving sacrifice for us.”
