In the newly released encyclical “Magnifica Humanitas,” Pope Leo is urging teachers, caregivers and university lecturers to not give up on a generation that could otherwise be lost to technology.

Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical, “Magnifica Humanitas,” is massive. It is clear-eyed and comprehensive and so chock-full of good stuff that it must be consumed bit-by-bit.

Pope Francis confirmed plans to publish a “second Laudato Si’,” which is expected to update and expand on his 2015 encyclical on the environment.

The encyclical takes its title from St. Francis of Assisi and is inspired by his “fraternal openness,” which, the pope said, calls on people “to acknowledge, appreciate and love each person, regardless of physical proximity, regardless of where he or she was born or lives.”

Pope Francis’ encyclical on fraternity and social friendship will be released with an Italian title that will not be translated into different languages, reported Vatican News.

Pope Francis will travel to Assisi Oct. 3 to sign an encyclical on the social, political and economic obligations that flow from a belief that all people are children of God and therefore brothers and sisters to one another.
