Franciscan Sister Marie A. Theis, 101, died Oct. 9 at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Convent.

In a book library, patrons take books and return them, she said. In a seed library, they take seeds, grow them and return them.

In the second half of the 20th century, the world experienced explosive change. “And all that was happening in the wider culture was reflected in our community,” said Franciscan Sister Elise Saggau, author of “A Journey to New Frontiers, 1950-2018,” a new history of the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls.

Franciscan Sister Jeanette Quinn, 88, died March 18 at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Convent on Monday, March 25, at 11 a.m.

Franciscan Sister Mary Bernarda Sanoski, 102, died Feb. 28 at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls.

The 12th annual Green Fair Folk Festival will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, outdoors at St. Francis Convent. This community celebration showcasing environmentally friendly ideas is free and open to the public.

Kendra Sobania began playing the violin when she was just 5 years old. Her mother, Monique Sobania, encouraged her daughter to take lessons at the St. Francis Music Center in Little Falls, a ministry sponsored by the Franciscan sisters. Now she will perform a benefit concert for the center June 3 in Little Falls.

Franciscan Sister Carol Schmit was elected as the 21st community minister and president of the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls during the Delegate Assembly held in Little Falls Feb. 27 to March 2.
