Bishop Donald Kettler will hold listening sessions following an allegation of past sexual misconduct involving Father Arthur Hoppe, who served in active ministry in the Diocese of St. Cloud from 1947 to 1999, according to a news release from the diocese May 11.
“These listening sessions have given life to the people of God in a way that I don’t think has really happened in a long time,” said Julia McStravog, a former U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops employee who is a consultant to the bishops on the process.
As part of the listening and dialogue phase of the Australian Catholic Church’s Plenary Council, 220,000 Australians answered the question, “What do you think God is asking of us in Australia at this time?”
