Mass

Everyday Discipleship. January 14, 2026

Why we shouldn’t leave Mass early (or get there late)

By OSV News

There was a time in Church history when people rationalized that their Mass obligation was satisfied if they attended the offertory, the consecration and holy Communion. Any such thinking was eliminated with the Second Vatican Council.

A Mass of hope and sadness, and the next urgently necessary thing

By OSV News

If we are to be a synodal church, we must do this; we must show that the church is listening, and has heard the reverberating cries of our victims, and of those who have left the pews out of disgust for our sins, and that it is genuinely and demonstrably repentant.

Longtime youth minister offers suggestions to get teens excited about Mass

By Catholic News Service

“We all desire for the next generation to develop a deep and abiding love for Scripture and the sacraments, in particular the Eucharist, but how do we develop and ‘unleash’ that love in an increasingly overstimulated, disengaged, and screen-obsessed culture?”

Participants in this year’s diocesan vocation camp Participants in this year’s diocesan vocation camp had the opportunity to attend the admission to candidacy of three of our seminarians. The 75 campers attended the Mass, celebrated by Bishop Patrick Neary, Aug. 4 at Immaculate Conception Church in Osakis. Following the Mass, the campers were treated to supper and games on the church lawn. Bishop Neary spoke to the young men before they headed back to the camp on Lake Osakis. The admission to candidacy is a significant step in a seminarian’s formation when the Church formally recognizes his readiness to continue preparing for priestly ordination and he publicly commits himself to that vocation.
