For Kenneth Hinnenkamp, his home parish, St. Mary’s, and his hometown of Melrose hold a special place in his heart and serve as inspiration for his hobby.
Since the 1970’s, he has created countless drawings, many focused on the history of Melrose and surrounding communities.

St. Joseph the Worker Knight of Columbus council, from the parishes of Sacred Heart in Freeport, St. Rose of Lima in St. Rosa and Immaculate Conception in New Munich, hosted its third annual food drive which resulted in over 200 pounds of food and $200 donated to Melrose Area Food Shelf.

Members of the committees working on the project gathered under and around a small tent on the future site for a blessing and photos as some parishioners watched from their cars because of the pouring rain.

The St. Mary’s parish community celebrated an outdoor bilingual Mass and site blessing in Melrose Sept. 9 on the land where it is planning to build a new church.

A juvenile was charged with arson in the first degree for the fire that damaged St. Mary Church in Melrose in March 2016, according to a news release June 20 from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.

About 450 people gathered Feb. 11 at Melrose High School to see a proposal for a new church in Melrose.

The doors opened June 13 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Parish leaders were on site all day to answer questions and welcome visitors.
