uring the Paris Olympic Games, track and field champions rang the bronze bell located close to the finish line at Saint-Denis’ Stade de France. In December, that same bell will ring in the newly reopened Notre Dame Cathedral during the most sacred part of the Mass.

Milestones have been and will be reported on regularly for the restorations of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, but one recently made Parisians drop a tear or two — the reconstruction of the roof structure is now completed.

As people of faith, we know that our hope is found not in political parties or their candidates but in Jesus Christ and his church. So, instead of dreading the first Tuesday in November and the inevitably contentious lead-up, here are five events Catholics can anticipate with joy this calendar year.
