Pastors, directors of religious education, catechists and volunteers gathered at Saint John’s University in Collegeville May 19, for an introduction to “Pathways for Family Faith Formation,” a new program that will soon be available to parishes and Area Catholic Communities.
The New York Archdiocese’s Superintendent of Schools Michael J. Deegan unveiled to OSV News a Catholic educational pilot program that offers new hope to entire communities, following the Feb. 15 announcement of a new round of school closures and mergers.
“We should avoid taking our catechists for granted. Our faith communities need to cultivate a permanent culture of support for our catechists.”
Improved religious education and a stronger sense of belonging to a community were some of the topics touched upon as the Synod of Bishops moved into its final round of speeches.
Digital publishing represents “a change in the landscape of catechesis that is both complex and continues to grow,” Bishop Caggiano said. “When we speak of digitization we must remember there are variety of ways in which a text can be published in a digital format.
