The Christmas season begins with vigil Masses on Christmas Eve and concludes on the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, Jan. 9.

Benedictine Father Brennan (Charles) Maiers, 86, died July 22 in the retirement center at St. John’s Abbey, Collegeville. The monks, family, and friends will receive the body on Wednesday, July 27, at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 28, in St. John’s Abbey and University Church, with interment in the abbey cemetery.

He was born and raised in Little Falls, the son of Jason and Stacy Spillum.

“Exploring History and Culture in Central Minnesota – Hill Museum & Manuscript Library” is a free online lecture series that will share about cultures in the state in a unique way: through ancient manuscript traditions.

An organ blessing and recital will take place Saturday, Sept. 18 and Sunday, Sept. 19 at the Abbey Church to officially present the organ, now called the Holtkamp-Pasi pipe organ.
