The iconography project is the work of Oleksandr Klymenko and Sofia Atlantova, a husband-and-wife team of iconographers based in Kyiv. They have been painting icons on the lids of used ammunition boxes since 2014.
“We are particularly concerned with the most vulnerable and hope that support will be given to separated families, the elderly, and those with urgent medical needs,” the bishops said.
Despite the appeals, Russia intensified its attacks on Ukraine and launched a missile strike that killed six people, including a mother and her 3-month-old baby, in Odesa April 23.
