Eight men continued their journey toward ordination to the permanent diaconate Oct. 14 during the Institution of Readers and Acolytes at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud.

Benedictine Sister Phyllis (Dunstan) Plantenberg, 95, died Oct. 10 at St. Scholastica Convent, St. Cloud. The Eucharist of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 15,  at the Sacred Heart Chapel, St. Benedict’s Monastery, St. Joseph, with burial in the monastery cemetery.

Beginning in 1990 and continuing through 2005, she served as director of Total Catholic Education for the Diocese of St. Cloud.

Donnelly, 66, served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2007 to 2013, representing Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District, and was a U.S. senator from 2013 to 2019.

Catholic Charities’ Share the Spirit program matches families in need during the holiday season with individuals, families and organizations who wish to help them by providing gifts and grocery cards.

Vincent Charles, 61, will be ordained a permanent deacon at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Isanti.
